If you want to check out the Unity3d scene, send me a PM. It's on my dropbox and I don't want to post the link publicly and lose all my bandwidth.

Re: The Interlink Facility Redux

I'd be interested in where they'll put the accesses (entrance/exit/spawn) for vehicles and such, since all other major facilities can spawn Aircraft and vehicles from the main building as well.

Another thing that interests me are the Arms, which are broken into two sections by a space that looks like it could be filled by a retractable bridge. Now THAT would be an interesting mechanic.

Got any tips on how to move around more effectively in the unity web player?

Very cool find. Thanks!

Interesting to see where and when they reuse portions of the already done facilities. You can definitely pick out the similarities.

Very large distances to cover between either end, loads of high altitude entrances from the looks of it.

If the spawns are located at the far end in the length direction as with the other bases, rather than in the center, this is going to be a pain to defend. Also means there's a huge courtyard to defend.

Hoping there's at least multiple levels of chokepoints inside so you can lose a level and hold another. But from past designs I wouldn't expect that.

The middle is awesome to look out, but I dunno about defense. Suppose we'll see when it's previewed and released.

How big is it compared to the Tech plant, Amp station and bio-lab?

from the looks it has about the same size footprint as an AMP station, if it's as tall as a Bio or Tech that will be pretty cool.
I hope there's tons of space inside for infantry battles.

It's actually about the size of the Tech Plant main building

Here's to a base with actual enclosed infantry battles.

Why exactly aren't we counting the Biolabs?

Terribad level design that promotes camping for both sides?
Biolab doesnt have any battles, last time I logged in it was a neverending camp fest.

How can any other facility with limited points of entry and objectives be different though?

If it has too many entry points, people will complain it isn't defensible. With a limited number of entry points (like Biolabs) people will gravitate towards defending those (ie camping) or defending the objectives.

Isn't that part of the reason we had these open bases to begin with because they didn't want the PS1 stairs camp fests? Of course that opened the infantry up to being attacked by vehicles.

So what everyone wants now is for there to be large open space without vehicles for infantry to fight in?

Biolabs have telepoters that deposit attackers inside your defences and I'm not keen on the landing pad entries, it's not a good design imo.

Well then you have that to keep you happy no? Can't the people who enjoy tactical infantry fights of defense and attack not have somewhere to play too.
