Recent influx of hackers

Anyone notice another recent influx of hackers? Its not the blatant ones anymore, it is the augmented players that are clearly aimbotting but playing like a normal player. ESP (wall hacks) are also getting pretty annoying. Hackers who are able to see you on the map with little red names and lines to point out where you are, even behind objects.

Is there no way to stop this? It takes a CSR way too long to find them, and even then, they are difficult to find :\

This kind of activity kills my mood and my fun when playing the game.

Yea i agree, only recently actually I have noticed and clocked onto some hackers flying around like no-clip mode with aimbot on just rinsing everyone lol..

Really annoying when these hackers camp certain areas :s you have 0 chance of surviving

I have noticed this as well - Not only is it the hackers (actually programmers or idiots who just download it) but I have noticed a recent influx of covert alternate empire account users...The ones who change over to keep tabs on forces, blow up sunderers/beacons and just general harassment like smoke grenade spam and other things to help turn the tide of battle.

On Cobalt server there has been alot of this happening during the alerts, mainly NC. They want to try to help their team win by whatever means necessary, or rather by the only means that which they personally can win (cheating).

I'm going to skip over the part where I belabor the point that due to the F2P nature hackers can simply log into a different account and get back to 'pwning nubs' seconds after their ban and get to the part where I agree with you that it's bloody annoying.

Fuck, it's annoying.

Yep, players are getting to VERY high BRs with hacks. Some of them are coming back after they finally got caught. That's my theory as to why there seem to be new hacker players. Some are now making it back up to the mid-BR.

You want to be able to tell if they're hacking? I can pretty much be sure a player with high KPM and over 5 k/d and mainly plays infantry is a hacker. There are a few exceptions, but usually you can tell these players never miss a shot when fighting them, even at long range. They also have a habit of firing at full auto, all the time. They simply Mag dump in some corner of the world to get their accuracy stats the correct levels.

If you want to be 100% sure they are hacking, follow them around if they are playing ESF. The current hacks for ESF are extremely obvious and easy to detect.

I am noticing that players as described above are getting banned one after another. Even players with well over 100 hours, who are normal members of the community and have a respected outfit, have admitted to hacking after finally being banned.

Note this, people: After I reported a player for being invisible/wallhacking and killing me in unlikely spots with a few bullets at a time, I actually yelled out at that player. Turns out that player was invisible but didn't know (assumed it's legit). Player relogged, still invisible. I relogged, the player became visible when we next met.

It's not down to network lag, I was able to see and kill everyone else fine, with no lag. Yet I couldn't even hurt the invisible player directly (when firing at him); however mines proved effective at instakilling him. Because of this vulnerability duality, I'm gonna assume that the Issue was with SOE.

Conclusion: Unless you're stat checking or everyone in the region is dying to that guy in less than 10 seconds, accuse the person and do a 1on1 hacker test. If he refuses you can always report him

I nearly got accused of hacking the other day at a bio lab. A guy said "wow 2 headshots at that range ?" when i used a phobos with slugs at only about 30m or so and killed him. So i warn people that sometimes it is possible to kill when it seems like hacking. I'm not making excuses though from some of the examples people have said in this thread, but when you add connection lag it can make an impact for sure.

I got accused of Hacking on Amerish yesterday because a Mossie pilot flew in a straight line towards their WG whilst I unloaded an entire clip of Hailstorm into him....

I have seen in total maybe 3-4 Hackers in the last 6 months (since release) so you have to be careful whom you "accuse" of hacking because occasionally its just a standard "he beat you" situation.

I have to agree with you on this one, be careful guys, because you get hit with a head shot doesn't mean the guy is hacking. One thing that I look for is a person who kills constantly with head shots. The other day I had a heavy assault kill me 4 times a head shot each time. No body shots mixed in there just head all 4 times, at first I was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, but then a squad mate named him and said he had been getting hit in the head as well. /report

But the thing is, you can't be sure about someone hacking, unless they are clearly underground. There is no way to see the game from other players perspective. At least for a non-dev.

And what does 1on1 hacker test mean? If it's 1vs1 in some remote location, I doubt anyone would actually take the break from playing just to have 1vs1 with someone. Even if he agrees, how do you still proof he cheats? If he does, he can turn them off. If he doesn't turn them off or is just better than you, you'd still think he cheats.

And from my point of view, there hasn't been any cheaters for a while now. So, there is less cheating I've ever seen in a game.

Solution: Why not create an auto-ban policy that activates when a person has reached unfathomable stats with a Character? It's possible they may reach unfathomable stats while still under BR 10. Hackers would become very frustrated that they could never get above BR 10. It may not STOP them from cheating, but they would start having to hold back on how much they cheat. Which is also a win for us.

If you can't stop it from happening, at least do something to reduce it.

Of course, if somebody was just really freaking good at the game, this ban could be appealed and the account retrieved.

Replace "ban" with "report for observation by GM" and we got ourselves a deal.
I personally would love to see the game from a hacker's point of view using GM tools, and help bust hackers. But that's just me daydreaming. I hope doing this doesn't take too much time away from SOE.

The reason I suggested auto-ban instead of auto-report is because the hackers so severely outnumber the GM's, no matter what their tools are, they have too much on their plate every day to be catching this many hackers. There needs to be an automated system because they just don't have the manpower.
