Posted a new article/video over at The Mittani showing an idea and talking briefly about how I believe that we are only limited by our imaginations in what can be done to attack/defend in Planetside 2:

Good article.
This is basically what keeps me squad leading and my outfit active. We dont bother looking at the empires bigger picture. We look at the map and decide what will give us the most fun and go there. I know when i'm doing a good job at squad leading as everyone online stays online until really late hours. And thats since day 1 launch. We are a small outfit of about 2 Squads max on weekends, And 1 on weekdays. Also we have been using that diffuser tactic for some time

I remember the days when that was the ONLY way to crack open a Techplant. That or a huge LA wave through the sides. Used to shake my head seeing people throw themselves into the meatgrinder of the backdoors which were covered by Engy turrets.

Good write up as usual kidriot. Sadly, you don't see much innovation across the board, but it is there. We were one of the earliest units using Gate Difusers sticking partially through a shield to create a bridge that didn't just deliever one load of troops, but acted as a gateway that everyone could funnel through the shield with. One of my favorite Bio Lab defenses lasted from about 9pm to about 4am because we flew a Sundy AMS into a Biolab and set it up behind a building where folks seldom go. The attackers dropped the SCU several times, but could not take the Sundy out. It's on a video of how to place it somewhere. Our Science Team is always tweaking with ways to mix it up.
One thing about the article is that you describe the beauty of Planetside well, that it is a sandbox. I often use the "Rome is the mob" line to describe it, as it is the players who fuel the action and the culture. However, I see the implementation of artificial features, such as the Alert System and Rush Lanes, that dictate player movement, as having a negative affect on that aspect of the game. Offer more objectives, but allow the players to decide the when and where. *EDIT Found the Sundy vid www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YWWCfdiW3A

Also on the attacker side I have noticed a trend several times this weekend of armor sitting off in the distance bombarding a facility staying back from the fight while infantry was hiding behind rocks and buildings content to exchange fire with defenders instead of pushing on the objective. Also once a control point is capped more people run off looking for enemies to kill instead of defending the room or area around the point until the point is capped. Just my observations lately...

We've also done very similar gate-shield crashes. Blocking the AMS Sundy is a new trick though, and yeah we'll use that too. Before they added the clunky vehicle pads in the AMP Station Garage you didn't have to do that. Another small note is that it appears some gate-shields are bugged and can't be diffused. More than once the East Gate at Elli has stopped us dead in our tracks with the diffuser on. |

Very good article, I must say. It's a common tactic among our squads.
Yet ultimately it fails in comparison to the greatest TR tactic ever conceived. 'What is this tactic?' You NC and VS ask? Well, when we're faced with impossible odds it is this. We hope that the enemy kill so many of us, as we charge forth, they become bored and somewhat depressed, before logging off out of despair. Last edited by CrimsonTemplar; 2013-04-29 at 08:47 PM. |

Also I'm astonished. Have you never heard the old saying 'There's no quit in a TR soldier'? . |
