T7 Mini-Chaingun bad?

I've seen a few TR players on this board talking about how bad the T7 Mini-chaingun is so I thought it was interesting that WarpathWrel did a review on it and said it's amazing.

I know the thing looks pretty beastly to me, but the only reason I don't own it is I keep hearing how bad it is compared to other LMGs. Thoughts?

I thought it was pretty good, lemme link you this review that Wrel... oh. Okay. That's that then.

Haven't actually used it myself, lacking certs and a good PC, but I'm quite sure that thing is not bad.

I actually killed Wrel once. True story.

I don't think I have ever run into Wrel in game. If I get a chance I will kill him haha.

I have killed TheKoolaidline 3 times so far.. mostly abusing the low settings crap that allowed me to see him cloaked plan as day which he said ruined a infiltrator montage. If that is true then I kinda feel bad for killing him... of course he has killed me a few times as well. Once in a hacksaw max back before they adjusted all the shotguns.

Like the other faction specific heavy weapons, it may not be bad but it certainly could be, and should be, A LOT better. There are other guns available which do the job of killing better. I play NC all the time though, so I am probably wrong.

But based on what I've encountered, the chaingun has never been a problem to deal with. Sounds badass though. Another thing I could complain about is the way the weapon is held...it doesn't really seem to be carried around like some would imagine. IMO, it should be a lot like the PS1 chaingun. But a lot of things should be like as how they were in PS1

It's a stupid gun and should be remodeled/re-released.

Yeah, I run the Laser Sight on mine just because of how good of a suppression and sniping weapon it is.

Then again I'm one of those who also likes the Lasher...

I dunno if it is latency or what, but when I get taken down by one of those, I hear no wind-up and only hear one bullet before I'm dead. I'm not sure if there is actually a problem with the weapon that currently makes it less identifiable as a weapon being fired to nearby players, or if it is merely a matter of latency / packet loss.

They are pretty good though. I bet adding HS/NV as an option to all 3 special HA-only primary weapons would make them even better, and used even more. Running into a wall of smoke with any of those weapons is death for the player now, but would be death for the enemy if these scopes were available.

I bought one at launch (because every good TR soldier must have one, obviously), killed like 5 people with it and never used it since.

I might try it again once the spin-up delay is gone though.

Well, apparently if you are using the ADS bug to eliminate the spin-up delay your opponent won't see or hear it. He will take silent damage from nowhere during the 0.5 second spin-up, which is a result of client-side hit detection.

I suspect it's the primary reason for it's alleged 'effectiveness'.

Higby said they were working on removing the spin up time on the chaingun and replace it with low ROF when you pull the trigger that increases as you hold it down but some bad bug cropped up during coding so it's being worked on.

Re: T7 Mini-Chaingun bad?

I usually only pull out my lasher or MCG during defenses. My favorite spot is the spawn room floor in towers that overlooks the two staircase entrances to cap "A" point. Just hold the trigger and profit. Although, I've been using the MCG more frequently now that they changed how the COF works. Before, the circle (like the reticle you get on shotguns) was already preset and quarter sized. But from a recent patch, the reticle starts off as a tiny dot, basically giving you pinpoint accuracy and then increasing as you fire.

I actually don't mind the spin up, and I think the ROF having to wind up would give me the most problems TBH.

Its not that it is bad, but other guns can do better, like the TMG50

It's a good weapon, but not really a chaingun.

I fucking LOVE it. It is literally one of my favorite purchases and I use it all the freaking time.

It said last patch that they removed the spool-up time, but it's still there, unless you left click and then right click immediately after, which will instantly start firing the MCG. I hope this isn't a bug, because if so I probably shouldn't have mentioned it, but I feel like I can't be the only one who knows about that.

I was using it since beta.
It was great on beta! Long range, fast killing, great suspressive fire on the move while using laser sights.
It got a 20% nerf on the RoF on the release of the game.
Got nerfed again in GU 03, a CoF nerf.
On GU 07 it got a HUGE nerf on the CoF, you can no longer use it in hip fire mode, even with laser sights... Well, you can, but not as effective as it was before!
It is the only weapon I paid the whole price on it, 700 SC on day one of the game. Too bad it was already nerfed.
The great GU 07 nerf it was to compensate the remove of the spin up time, the problem is, they nerfed the weapon and didn´t implemented the instant fire, increasing RoF mode, maybe the engine can´t do that, we don´t know why they didn´t.
So, after 3 nerfs a person that is used to what it was on the beta, really gets frustrated using it, I am so close of auraxis medal with it, but it is really hard for me to use a weapon that is not even close to the shadow it was when you first use it.
It needs to be review, fast!
Stun grenade + t7 = cap point clear, something now I am doing with the MSW-R + pistol.
Also I choosed to use the adrenaline shield just because of the t7 minigun great killstreaks.

Speaking of Mini-Chainguns....

Have you guys seen THIS?!

http://www.xcalibertactical.com/prod...sg2/index.html

An enterprising individual could even modify this vulcan cannon to attach to a Gimbal device mounted on a tri-pod, hook it up to a motion sensing CCTV camera with IR, install some IFF target tracking software and you've got yourself a pretty decent perimeter defense system!

By the way, there are How-To's explaining all of this online.
