As much as the devs want us to specialize, many people still look for versatility in a weapon over specialization. And in this game, where fighting ranges change quickly, this makes sense.
Since the latest balance changes I'm a bit puzzled though to what to equip as my allround/go-to TR carbine. The Jaguar used to be the TR carbine for me that hit the sweet-spot between dps, controllability and accuracy but since the latest nerf in horizontal recoil it's lacking too much at range for me now. Since then I'm rotating between the good old Trac-5, the Trac-5 S and the T5 AMC to decide what to become my new allround carbine. The high first shot recoil on the Trac-5 severely hampers bursting at range so I'm now down to either the Trac-5 S (with fwd grip as go-to, no underslung) or the T5 AMC for an all-range gun. The T5 AMC (I prefer it over NS-11C because of burst) is now a pinpoint burst machine with all the good characteristics but in CQB you got to aim for the head to stand any chance to compensate for that horrible dps which is not always easy. So that probably brings it down to Trac-5 S as the best allround TR carbine for me:
Still not 100% sure though as I can maybe make the T5 AMC work for me at closer ranges if I train more on my headshot skills. Opinions? Let's discuss. What do you consider as the best allround TR carbine since the latest balance changes? |

For me the Trac-5 S just feels so weaksauce. I have had too many times with that weapon when I put half a mag into an enemy only to have them turn around and put me down in a few hits. The only thing this weapon has going for it is the smoke launcher. The generade launcher is a cheesy gimmick that's not worth compromising on the carbine aspect for.
I have recently come to really enjoy the T5-AMC after the big gun update. It might be the slowest firing of the TR guns but it feels so much more reliable than it used to. Despite the fact I used to hate this gun I now use it as my default weapon for any outdoor battles on enginee or LA. For close range situations I like using the Lynx, since it is a hipfiring monster. Now a days I have start to care more about the muzzle velocity of the weapons I use as it makes it allot easier to kill a moving target the faster the bullet travels. PS: Thats way I envy the NC weapons now a day. |

The biggest problem with the grenade launcher is not so much that you have to exactly lob those grenades on target to get a kill, it's the slow switching to your main gun that will get you caught with your pants down far too often for my likings. This means that if you want to play it safe with the launcher you've got to keep your distance and using that launcher at distance is rather cumbersome and not that effective imo. That's only thanks to it's advanced lasersight. The weapon in itself has no particular hipfire characteristics like the Jaguar has. |

My favorite seems to have shifted from the Jag to the T5-AMC.
I dont play TR as a primary but Im enjoying the T5-AMC with the compensator and advanced grip.

Once again, TR gets shafted with carbines. We lack a high ROF one AND a high damage one. WTF is up with that??

Basically, the NS-11C is a newbie-friendly carbine that handles extremely well but other than that it gets completely outclassed at any range by its TR counterparts. |

Grenade launcher direct hits are still instagib for most players. An engineer with a grenade launcher is underbarrels of fun! IIRC it also has burst and single fire modes.
