So far 95% of the time Lockdown AA max is less effective for me. The limited rotation an inability to move prevents the ability to continually hit the target. The ESF moves out of your angle or is blocked when locked down.
The only times I've found it a benefit is from inside pawn rooms when your pinned down behind the spawn room shields with a massive Zerg outside and have limited view and no hope of winning. The ZOE has all the advantages (OP) and can move faster allowing more hits on the moving target and more damage per second on air. NC Shields don't increase damage and tend to reduce the damage given out per minute as the NC max tends to throw up the shield when a air threat starts firing. Instead killing the air target while taking damage would have resulted in a ESF kill. Last edited by Technologist; 2013-05-29 at 06:59 AM. |

My personal opinion is that a good NC MAX user will be handicapped when using Aegis shield, in regards to close quarters play. The temptation to activate it got me killed many more times than it saved me. However I have recently fallen in love with the Aegis and dual Falcons setup, that's a nice AV and even infantry killer. It is a tossup for an AA role, I have benefited from it blocking rocket pods but in many instances with extended mag burtsers and charge you can quicklu change your position mid clip while dodging the rockets and then still have 20 burster rounds left to finish the ESF.
