New Movement Code = New Jumpjets?

I was talking to someone about the new movement code, which seems to have greatly reduced the glitching of sudden movements and ADAD-ing, and he brought up a good question: Now that sudden movements can be handled better, is the window open for new jumpjets? Perhaps jumpjets that allow for sudden and spontaneous movements?

I was thinking along the lines of the return of the beloved Icarus jets.

And, as my friend suggested, a jetpack made for dodging.

Personally I think the movement code has been improved enough so that this would be possible, and would allow for some more fun and versatile playstyles while not glitching up and giving players an unfair advantage. How about you guys?

Didn't they fix it by nerfing movement speed? patch notes said they added in inertia or some kind. So you can't add in any jets that bump the movement back up.

i'd imagine it would be on a cooldown, say you can only do it once every 8 seconds.

think Halo 4's armour ability... forgot what it was called, but yeah essentially the ability i am thinking does the same thing as the OP said. it could be very useful.

edit: wtf are icarus jets?

Imagine strapping an ACME rocket to your back, experiencing a 16g liftoff, and instantly disappearing from the enemy's screen because a second and a half later you are now as high as a damned biolab. This is clearly an exaggeration, but that's the point of them. lol

@Icarus JJ I never got to use them but they sound incredibly silly and bland.

The new drifters are fun but you cant compare them to ADAD.

Its essentially impossible now to hit anything while drifting.

I was worried they did....I think they just fixed the warping.

I still ADAD and it works great, I love it that they didn't take away ADAD which adds more depth to the game.

Why in the hell do they want to stop ADAD?....It is part of the game now.

ADAD adds depth to the game in close quarter hipfire combat.

Im glad they fixed the warping but ADAD is still in the game and is here to stay!

Was it ever possible? xD

Yeah I wasn't too thrilled with the drifter update. Great promises: they seldom deliver.

What did they do to the drifter jets? I tried them on VR and didn't feel like I ran faster or when using the jets moved particularly well over the land... I don't get what the new gameplay is?

Maybe i'm missing something as I don't play LA but was interested about what Higby said about moving faster.

You move a bit faster using them on flat ground, it seems to benefit you most when strafing as far as I could tell.

In what way does hitting ADAD add depth to the game? ADAD doesn't add depth! It adds stupidity and and fake 'gamey' mechanics. Nobody in their right mind would dance back and fourth 10 meters from an enemy. Its the equivalent of the bunny rabbit/ noob cannon combo. I don't think they have done ENOUGH to stop ADAD. They should blow out your hipfire aim every time you hit the opposite direction key. The game is light enough on realism while maintaining ridiculously fast TTK.

With the new drifters I feel like we're so much closer to getting some skiing into the game!
