I think it would be cool if it was an infiltrator weapon. Technically .50 and higher caliber weapons are classified as Anti-Material weapons and the infiltrator lacks weaponary to deal with vehicles at all. I've been hoping that infiltrators would get a weapon that could deal damage to vehicles from range. They don't need rocket launcher damage levels, but something where infiltrators could plink away armor from range.. maybe even have different ammo types for different roles. Explosive rounds to kill turrets faster. Armor-piercing core rounds to combat armored vehicles. Incendiary rounds for taking out maxes or something.
Here is the real life information on the subject. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-materiel_rifle Anyway, MAG for the PS3 had .50 cal weapons that could damage vehicles and turrets. It was nice for snipers to have other targets besides squishies that they could help their team kill. I think giving infiltrators more options on targets could make the sniper infiltrator more enjoyable. |

Heavily inspired by the Pilum, I'd say
Not that that's a bad thing. Very nice job. However, my only concern would be the risk of OHK on infantry? Especially if the projectile velocity is very fast. I guess you could give it some dispersion, enough to avoid cheap use on infantry, but not too much that you can't hit a tank. I like the deploy mechanic also, but then wouldn't it be more logical to mount it on a MAX? Not sure they would need such a weapon, I do like the idea of having this for Infantry (including having it as an anti-material option for Infiltrators). Just my concerns. I like it a lot, otherwise. |
