Honestly, having an option to turn with the mouse while flying, even if it's at a slow speed, would do wonders. It's such a simple thing to add and it's already in other flying games. A joystick would just get in the way (space wise) and I can't be the only one that would like to turn with the mouse instead of rolling. Perhaps for ground vehicles too (combat evolved did it). Of course, set it so it turns slow on tanks and gal's but add the option. Using keyboard or joystick to aim does me no good.
Edit: Thinking about it, using mouse for tank turning wouldn't really work since it would mean you'd have to drive in the direction you're aiming. But aircraft don't have that problem so the mouse to turn option still works there. Last edited by Taramafor; 2013-07-03 at 09:35 PM. |

The flight system is designed so you have to roll and pitch, they can't add mouse turning it would break it.
Flying isn't hard you just need to do a few things. You need a mouse that can swap DPI on the fly, you need to set your ingame flight sensitivity to max and drop your mouse DPI to compensate, you need to bind pitch up and pitch down to keys.

See, there's the problem. Keyboard is faster then mouse when it's usually the other way around.
I guess I could try using keyboard only. Also, I managed to play X2 and X3 and X Terrain Conflict with keyboard and mouse. The only key difference between those games and the flying here is the rolling as you turn I think. But one could easily have roll set to keys and turn with mouse couldn't they?
