The big POI's don't need them in the slightest if they were better designed - they're not a fix for boring/poor base design. That said they did say they would be potentially included on other continents in subsequent passes once they have them right.

I think the amp station would be fine with a roof over it, then that big courtyard would be a giant indoor building essentially.
The tech plant and biolab though just need a whole host of things, essentially their problem is due to the lack of indoor fighting space and the things that need to be defended are too far away. The teleport to the indoors just leads to spawn camping way too fast for the biolab and the buildings you have to protect at the tech plant are too far away. |

as i mentioned in another thread if they put a roof over the ground floor and had a first floor that had access points it could be a very interesting fight to get into an amp station not the POP it is atm. it would still allow vehicles into the courtyard once the sheilds were down etc but would make defending better and attacking alot more interesting.
I miss the old hacking doors to get into the base interior and the stair fights back door holds, gen room holds and last minute resecures. atm ps2 realy lacks anything that can negate the zerg of armour or air that rolls around each server regardless of the empire. those interior choke points ment numbers didnt always win atm its just a numbers game |

what im hoping is that these are some kind of benefit for taking a base like the amp station since its the weakest of the 3 base types. The whole point of them adding the these shields is so we dont get farmed by aircraft high up. They can still go into the shield but its extremely risky. I actually remember this weekend we were playing on test server and a mossy kept dodging in and out of the shield trying to farm kills but he got shot down quickly.
I think these shields are perfectly fine for what they are meant to do. Adding a whole roof area would just add more things to render and therefore, increase performance problems. Also I think that would look a bit tacky with a giant roof over the amp station and not give view of that beautiful night sky we have in the game. Last edited by Timealude; 2013-08-05 at 02:26 PM. |

implement the dome shields, but allow small spec Ops groups to sneak into the bases and hack/disable them for nearby friendly air units to swoop in for a coordinated strafe run.
-it would provide additional smaller objectives for zerg-averse players to pursue -opens up new tactical options -creates a more dynamic environment that causes SLs and PLs to think actively and adapt their approach to a changing environment: domes on/domes off. -is a fine compromise for those who don't want to be rained upon by air while in their bases (guard the shield console/generator), and those who want to be useful in their air vehicles (shields are down, now is your chance!). |
