Outfit Progression

I see Outfit Progression is on the horizon.

A bad implementation of this could mean....

Good news for large outfits...bad news for small/medium sized outfits?

Johnny Planetside isn't getting many perks in the small outfit he joined so Johnny quits it and joins one of the huge outfits coz they have all the cool stuff.

New or small outfits never gain any traction because older larger outfits are all blinged out with perks.

The community stagnates into large zergfits based purely on the premise that more members = more perks

A penny for your thoughts...

I have to agree that it could go horribly wrong and tbh I can't see any real way of implimenting it without this sque to the zergfits. My only hope is its based on averages so regardless of an outfits size we are all on a level playing field.

Other then that I can't think of a fair way to impliment it.

EVILPIGs variation is another example of the consequences of a bad implementation. As valid as my own but probably less likely based on the rather vague discription on the Roadmap.

https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/...ression.83022/

One of the ideas we have for doing this is to allow players to contribute points to their Outfit by earning experience, and when enough points are accrued, the Outfit will earn a rank.
The only way I can see to make it fairer is that if the perks are all cosmetic based items because I can't see any way to implement this without favoring a particular size of outfit be it as I or EVILPIG suggested.

Outfit progression is simply bad for a game.

Medals and ranking are fine - but any sort of actual bonus that improves game play is bad.
If its a worthwhile feature you should give it to all outfits.

Could there be a way of adding big outfit xp multipliers to small outfits, then for the massive outfits, equivalent % either taken away or added depending how big there are ?

We saw what happened when they thought it would be good to add the implants in, maybe they have a similar idea with what the outfit points can do too.

Or have a cap to the number of people it takes into account in each outfit.

Eg
Top 20 players based on score per minute are counted so it even creates some internal outfit competition.

If it's anything that increases adds 'force' I completely agree. I'm not ,in favour of additional shielding personally because of the imbalance it gives towards new players. Something that creates an imbalance between outfits must be avoided, other than those derived from better organisation and tactics obviously.

this is one of the most exciting possible updates but I share your concern. SOE to date has show a tendency to play favorites with the largest, most established outfits. What can we do as more moderately sized, newer outfits?

At this point it seems wait and see how the details pan out.

Well one good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it, is it could discourage lone wolfing even more so then it already does.

Warframe addressed a similar issue by making the "price" of the perks prorated for groups of different sizes.

Outfit of 1-24 people has a range of prices

Outfit of 24-100 has a slightly more expensive range

Outfit of 100-500 has a more expensive range

Etc.

So this may be an idea to put on the table.

I agree. A simple accumulation of points seems unfair to the small. Averages seem just dumb. It would seem best to leave the accumulation of points left to the individual player to spend on themselves. As for outfit perks, they should be a simple SC purchase made by the outfit.

Which is why there should be no outfit economy. Leave it up to players to purchase things, as it is now. Outfits need tools, not perks.

None of you seem to have paid this any attention, seems like a neat way to satisfy everyone's concerns.
