I just looked on pricewatch.com, and the Radeon 9700 Pro looks to be going for - at the lowest - $270. Of course, I don't know how reputable the sites are that are selling the card that those prices, but $270 isnt all that bad (resellerratings.com would help).
Oh yeah, and newegg.com has the Radeon 9500 Pro (128 MB, wider memory pipeline, whatever) going for about $170. Good alternative in my opinion. |

Well I just bought the 9700 Pro for $299. Figure I'd just quit worrying about.
Hey Zatrais, could I PM you with a few questions on hardware? I'm pricing out this monarch machine, I called them with some questions, and they recommended some things that are double in price than what I wanted. I just don't want to spam the boards with questions (I've already been doing that)

there is a worldwide shortage of 9500/9700 GPU's as ATI never counted on the demand (well played ATI) so once the 9500/9700 GPU's stop being manufactured in favor of the 9600/9800 then prices wont drop as there will still be no saturation in the market of older 9500/9700 cards
you may see a slight reduction to clear old stocks, but there wont be the usual Nvidia style slashing of prices to clear the millions of older cards |
