was watching the planetside preview movie that i downloaded from Shaereza. I notcied that the TR AI MAx does about 8 dmg points per shot to health. And that the VS does about 5-6 health per shot. But what i did notice is that VS does around 15 armor points and the TR only does around 3-5. So would the VS MAX be btter against other MAX's and TR beter against the infantry men, or am i just way off base here?

Well, whoever was using the TR AI max was probably some nOOb idiot using High Explosive rounds instead of AP like he should against maxes. But even if he was using AP rounds TR AI maxes have a pretty fast fire rate so I wouldn't worry.

1. I think that MAXes count as vehicles in regards to what will do damage to them the best, so I would assume that the AV MAXes will whoop it up on the others. I doubt that one empire's MAXes (overall) will be inherently better than any other's.
2. Sputty's right. MAXes get just one kind of ammo, they can't switch from armor-piercing to anti-personnel or anything like that. |

Forgot to add that (thought it was self-evident, but hey ). You get to choose your weapon when you get your MAX, so if you picked AI and you see a legion of tanks... Well, start running.
I beleive you'd be able to change it at an equipment or vehicle terminal, but I could be wrong...

Believe me, Zarp, after seeing some of the questions on this forum, I don't assume that anything about this game is self-evident.
I think that you can change your MAX armor at any equipment terminal -except- for the ones on an AMS, which is a fairly recent change and may have changed back for all I know. |

It seems like they would be able to logically, since their smaller counterparts (the Cycler for TR, the Pulsar for Vanu, and... does the Jackhammer have armor-piercing ammo?) can do that. But it would kind of upset the balance of MAXes. There've been a lot of threads about the balancing of MAXes, but I haven't seen any mention of Vanu MAXes switching ammo. But, of course, I'm not 100% sure. I think I'm going to put that in my sig.

Well Vanu maxe's are supposed to have a secondary mode that uses twice the amount of energy and then the projectile is semi-homing. Meaning it will hit if no objects get in the way
example: I shoot the guy runs behind a hugggggggeeeee rock the projectile wont try to go around it it will try to go thru it

I don't think the AI MAXes should be able to switch to AP rounds, since armor fighting should be left to the AV MAXes. Plus, it makes an AI MAX good at 2 specializations instead of just one (so if one type of MAX is good at 2 things while the other 2 MAXes are only good at one, the first MAX will be used more than the others, and it'll be unbalanced).
