What is indicative of how far down the food chain PS and SOE is. Is the fact theres not a whisper of it anywhere else on the internet. Other games close down and there's postings and convo on sites that are not related directly to the game itself. I can think of a few games that have closed down where I heard before/after about their demise. Planetside. Not even a mouse fart.
Better to burn out then to fade away. |

It seems like that's the case. The last time I was on, there were less than 10 players on across all three factions. Before the release of PS2 and right after the activation of all accounts there were still decent fights to be found, but now it seems that the game has finally died out. Not a bad run. |

I noticed the same error when i tried logging in a couple of days ago.
That's just a wonderful treatment of the best and most innovative fps game i ever played. Take some elements for the bastardized sequel cashgrab, piss on the original and its players by doing everything to ensure it stays empty and then just pull the plug in silence. Just classy and if this is truely the final plug it's pretty much exactly the icing on the cake i expected by now. The whole string of shit these morons at SOE pulled from the beginning of PS2s beta all the way up to here ensured i will stay the hell away from any projects related to SOE in the future. There are too many good (indie) projects to support where the people behind it actually have a vision and are caring about it beyond revenue plans to continue wasting time or even money on, quote, "Planetside", quote, 2. Edit: Oh, and yeah, happy new year. |

I'd be fine with just an offline version of PS1. Something like Minecraft classic. Like I said in the other thread, I'd gladly pay for a subscription to PS2, something I haven't done all year, just to run around the empty continents once more, like I've always enjoyed with all my other favorite dead games (Team Fortress, Tribes...) and happily see my money go towards the further development of PS2.
