One thing I love about T2 was taking people out at a range while invisible. I heard that you can't do that in this game (Thanks you SOE!!) but I think there might be a way. The AMS cloaks everything in a radius, what keeps someone from being specced to drive an AMS, and shoot a bolt driver? You could get an ams, drive it to the hill you want to snipe from, set the AMS so only people in your squad can use it (but since you are alone, that would just be you) and snipe away. You wouldn't even have to go anywhere to get more ammo. You would still get uncovered eventually, because of darklight vision, but it would take a far sight longer then just sitting there with your face hanging out. Anyways, just something I came up with during Chemistry. What do you guys think?

Uh... lemme reiterate what was said so all is clear:
The AMS cloaks everything within "X" amount of yards. (X being unknown number) Players outside cannot see vehicles/players inside the field. Players inside cannot see vehicles/players outside the field. Any player can shoot through the invisibility field or pass through it normally. Or so I'm told...

One thing I loved about the Tribes sniper rifles was that they gave away the position of the sniper when firing. As far as I'm concerned, for a big outdoor game like Tribes, the rifle making it obvious where the shot was fired from is absolutely necessary. Without the sniper being given away when firing, it's virtually impossible to make it balanced, because it'd be too hard to find a sniper, and that would make him/her overpowered.

Yes he is, but dont worry after awhile hamma gets mad at trolls.
The cloaking field working both ways was correct, and you cant set an AMS to spawn only your squad. You can set it that only your squad or yourself can drive it or use the trunk (not trunk on an AMS, its a portable equipment terminal, defeats the point of a trunk). Its pointless to have a spawn point for only 10 people when attacks that depend on AMS support could have upwards of 50 people, so a squad only option wouldnt be included. |
