SporkfirePS Station Admin Registered: Jan 2003 posted 04-11-2003 05:39 PM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, Gamespot did a preview of their Planetside press beta and said that one problem they saw was that people ran off and did their own thing without getting organized. They also didn't see much people staying back and defending... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And those are two of the primary things we are working with right now. They are not overpowering issues that you'll experience throughout the game. People do defend bases and people do work very well in groups. We just want to make those activities part of the norm by making them more rewarding than they already are. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like PlanetSide, as one of the first MM FPSes I've played it's been a blast. I enjoy the strategic and military portions of the game. I love the way (most) people want to find their nitch and go with the certifications that suit them best, the selection of vehicles is nice too. There's only a few things that make me want to turn it off after awhile.
1- The objectives- cap bases, cap bases, cap towers, cap bases, refeul, cap bases... I don't know how much they can do without changing the game dramatically but I wish there was more objectives. 2- Base uniqueness- Besides some really cool bases such as the ones entrenched in tall jungle-like trees in Hossin, most bases are pretty drab and repetetive. I'm not saying we should have to memorize the complete interior layout for every new base we come across, but it would be interesting to have some really REALLY unique bases. Such as underwater ones or ones that tunnel into the mountainside and have defensive turrets and balconies along the cliffsides. 3- I'm a huge huge nature lover, so seeing all the hard-worked on terrain in PlanetSide is amazing in itself, and I know according to the storyline Auraxis is an uncivilized planet.. but it would be very cool to see villas and cities, it may even add an interesting edge to the game to fight house to house or snipe from a skyscraper. I don't know.. it seems kind of strange fighting with advanced laser weapontry with no futuristic surroundings with the exception of sanctuary. 4- As for personal suggestions for new equipment.. some sort of grappling hooks to scale cliffs or tower and base walls or (definately) unique aircraft for each army. Those are just my opinions, because when I shut off Planetside it's usually because I am seemingly capping the same base over and over again with my squad even with massive fighting involved. |
