Okay, there's lots of info out there on Spitfires, but what about mines and Boomers?
1. Do mines deploy in singles or multiples at once?
2. What is the approx. size/power of the explosion?
3. Is there limited range on Boomer detonation?
4. #2 for Boomers.
5. Can Boomers stick to vehicles?
6. Are mines set off by friendlies?
7. Do the mines motion-sense or contact?
8. Is there a limit on deployed mines/Boomers in one SOI?
9. Outside of SOI, no limit right on any of it, right?
10. Do they specialize like AV/AI weapons, or do they do equally well against both?
11. Are mines good enough against vehicles that Galaxy pilots will have to use modern transport helicopter drop tactics (hovering a foot or two above ground, not landing), or just use KDs unless they need to drop a vehicle?
12. How visible are the mines, and can you deploy them on the metal floors?

1. Do mines deploy in singles or multiples at once?
Single.

2. What is the approx. size/power of the explosion?
Not a huge blast, but they're very damaging. Most infantry will be killed or badly wounded if they step on a mine. I've never personally tested it myself. It also takes about 3 or 4 mines to destroy a Marauder.

3. Is there limited range on Boomer detonation?
I don't believe so. Again, I've never really tried it. Most people don't set boomers and then run off across the continent. I think for every practical application, boomers can be triggered from anywhere you'd realistically be.

4. #2 for Boomers.
They're pretty powerful. A boomer will knock out an enemy terminal in a single hit, kill a Reinforced soldier instantly, and probably do a good bit of damage to armor. The trade off is that if you die, the boomer doesn't work. If you don't trigger it at the right time, the boomer doesn't work. If the enemy sees your boomer and shoots it (yes, they can be destroyed) the boomer doesn't work. Engineers will have to be sneaky if they want to get a lot of kills with a boomer.

5. Can Boomers stick to vehicles?
You can only place them on the ground. So, no.

6. Are mines set off by friendlies?
No.

7. Do the mines motion-sense or contact?
They detonate when the enemy is very close to them, but no, not when stood directly on top of. They give a little bit of leeway in that regard, so it's very possible to use a single mine to trap a large doorway.

8. Is there a limit on deployed mines/Boomers in one SOI?
I'm not sure if there's a limit per SOI. I've seen some heavily defended bases before. I know for sure that there's a limit per player, like only 5 Spitfires per player and only about 10 mines or so.

10. Do they specialize like AV/AI weapons, or do they do equally well against both?
They're very effective against everything. Probably the only truly universal weapon.

11. Are mines good enough against vehicles that Galaxy pilots will have to use modern transport helicopter drop tactics (hovering a foot or two above ground, not landing), or just use KDs unless they need to drop a vehicle?
I've never seen a Galaxy successfully land at a hot LZ. Kinetic Dampeners are always used if it's a combat drop.

But, either way, dropping a vehicle inside a base is very risky, and shouldn't be done unless the fighting is being done inside the perimeter of the base. Otherwise mines, turrets, and the defending soldiers will rip whatever vehicle is dropped apart.

12. How visible are the mines, and can you deploy them on the metal floors?
Mines are invisible until you're within a certain range, and the range isn't very far. A fast moving vehicle has no chance of spotting mines before it triggers them.

Mines can only be deployed outside. Same with Spitfire turrets. Only boomers and motion sensors can be deployed indoors.

1. single
2. Powerful. If you drive a buggy over you normally go boom if you have any damage, which is pretty darn funny. The wheels go flying into the air and the flaming wreck keeps streaking forward. It's even funny when I'm the one who blew up
3. Yeah, you have to be pretty close. You can shoot the mine with a Gauss if you're paying attention, so they're best deployed in tight spaces where people aren't looking, like right inside the back door to a base
4. What?
5. Don't think so, but haven't tried
6. No, but if a friendly is nearby you can get a lot of grief. Hope they fixt that.
7. motion sensor, but you have to be close.
8. I think it's 10 ACE's, but I'm not sure.
9. Not sure, engineer know the answer?
10. Well, the mines hurt infantry and vehicles, and so do the ACE's, so I guess the answer is both. A spitfire can tear a vehicle up if you're not careful, and they eat infantry up if the said soldier doesn't blow it up or get cover.
11. Well, I guess if you landed on one that'd hurt, but normally the galaxy's do hot drops, since it's much faster. People can just bale out. You generally land only when loading, or when you own the base.
12. THey're visible, and you can shoot them from medium range to blow them up, and you can deploy them on metal floors.

I've been messing around with Avd Eng some

1. Do mines deploy in singles or multiples at once?
Singles

2. What is the approx. size/power of the explosion?
In Reinforced Armor, a mine does ~80% health damage, and ~10% armor damage.

5. Can Boomers stick to vehicles?
No

6. Are mines set off by friendlies?
No

7. Do the mines motion-sense or contact?
Little leeway

8. Is there a limit on deployed mines/Boomers in one SOI?
20 per person for everything other than Boomers. Once you place a boomer, That gun slot is used up untill you blow it. (To use an ACE, you put it in a hand gun hoster. Once you use one, you just press the refill key to get another one.)

9. Outside of SOI, no limit right on any of it, right?
Read #8

I haven't been able to shoot a mine. Only steping on it, or mine sweaper nad works.

IEDs, SAF, RPGs, & mortars. But only during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The enemy is so poor, they have to keep day jobs

I think boomers are hillarious. They sound like a damn nuke blowing up, but they do shit for damage. Heh. Its a lot easier to stab someone in the back.

kinda off topic but figured I'd ask anyway, I keep hearing everyone talk about hotdrops from Galaxies, does this include the ability to hot drop the vehicle slot it has as well? Or do you need to land it to offload a vehicle from it.

Vehicles can drop too, but it's sort of risky because you can't usually tell exactly where you're going to drop. Which means you may drop the vehicle into a really bad place to be, and that vehicle will be destroyed quickly. Same goes for infantry. While it's a lot of fun to do Galaxy drops, if the base you're attacking has all the fighting going on outside, unless you manage to drop onto the main building and enter that way, you're probably going to get killed by the defenders before you can do anything. And even if you do manage to get in through the top, Galaxies aren't exactly stealthy. The defenders will know you're inside.

So in actuality its prolly a better tactic to drop just outside of base range to advoid anti air etc I'd gather. Makes sense, thanks Warborn.

That all depends, some people are l33t galaxy pilots/leader and can do a great job with HALO jumps. Right Kiwi?
