NC strength.

i'm a lil fuzzy on the NC's strength. I know they use brutal firepower to affect the enemy from a distance, so if an enemy closens do they have an advantage genst NC shields?

Also, i have a question on vanu attacks.
Vanu seem like a very mobile race, so does that give them the advantage of hit and run, or does it help them group and regroup better or prepare an ambush unlike other empires? how does it help?

NC have the hardest hitting weapons per shot. Unfortunately as it is now, that means their Vanguard will wipe out entire squads of infantry in second, decimate enemy vehicles, and overall just stick out like a big, unbalanced thumb. And, yes, I exaggerate a bit here, because I'm scarred by numerous Vanguard deaths. If only the damn thing fired more slowly...

Anyway, Vanu right now are sort of wierd. I don't know what they're suppose to be, but they do really poorly in the Beta. IMHO, the Pulsar sucks a bit as an assault rifle, and the Lancer is at a disadvantage vs fast moving targets due to its total lack of lock ability and innately tricky aiming. But, yes, the Vanu do tend to have more mobile forces. Unfortunately for them, a tank being able to strafe won't do a hell of a lot to save them from the fast-firing shells of a Prowler or Vanguard (did I mention the Vanguard needs its rate of fire toned down?). Their MAX can be a serious pain with its jump-jets though. That's probably Vanu mobility at its most lethal right there.

I played on Hossin and witnessed Vanu lock on two separate days. Huh... the two days i've been in beta. In spite of some weapon balance issues.

Their (the NC) advantage is massive upfront damage. The mobility for the VS just allows for some extra tactical options, like bypassing water whitout a bridge, getting their MAX suits over base walls or into some nice hard to reach spots.

Vanu are versitiles alright, when we have a chance we ditch our own weapons and loot TR & NC weapons. Now that's called tactics.

NC approach to fighting is full force, big-ass weapons with enough shields to cover your ass while you reload the 150 m"m tank, which takes a while. basiclly, in small groups we should theoretically have a harder time cause missing is a BAD idea. in large groups it's hard to miss

TR approach is "can't miss at an ROF this high". kind of right, good luck dodging an MCG's spam.

VS are more of the "move so much they get dizzy, then shoot" or maybe a bit more of "move allot, they miss, then when they reload you shoot." kind of lame if you ask me. it's a cheap tactic.

The NC's true strength is generally in its numbers. The NC usually have a 3-5% edge over each other Empire's population. But occasionally when we are outnumbered we are lucky to hold onto our 3 home continents.

The NC are concentrated with most firepower per shot and in their personal weapons, with up close and personal fighting either with the JH or the pheonix where u have to bloody well fly the freaking missle.

The VS are very mobile, if you get a good mag driver/gunner u can do a lot of damage, however the mags arent that effective vrs other enemy tanks. A good tactic for mags is to mow over infantry and then retreat to maxes and lancers to deal with tanks.

As for the TR well, they feel that if you throw enough bullets at something, well you sure as hell are gonna kill it eg. MCG and all their Maxes.

You seem to forget that the Mag can hover over watter and plink the shore while remaining imune to splash from the ground. That's another topic though.

The NC do the most damage on a shot-for-shot basis, the Vanu have vercitility and tactical focus, and the TR have ROF.

The NC vehciles have the most armor, and the max has a purely deffencive shield. The VS have strafeing, speed, and hovering over watter with their vehciles, but have the lowest armor. Their MAXes have higher ability to turn/aim and jumpjets. The TR vehicles have the greatest DOT and 2 gunners, and the slowest speed. TR MAXes can lockdown to increase COF and ROF.

Lingo lesson....

ROF = Rate Of Fire

COF = Cone of Fire (read teh Manual)

DOT = Damage over Time

The higher the COF is, the less it exists. A mosquito, which has absoloutly no COF has a very high COF. However, The lasher, on full-auto, has a very low COF.

Other way around, spee, lower is better, 0 COF is the skeeter, it has no cone of fire, it's perfect accuraccy

NC: Frankly, overpowered. Best all round weapons and equipment. Slam you with vanguards at range, then cut though your inner defences like butter with the jackhammer. Kills are so easy, they all feel cheap, I have an NC charachter, but never use it.

VS: Hover vehicles. No choke point effects them. Bridges? Pfft. Don't make us laugh. We have the best overall maxs. Our Lasher is excelent for defence, but relativley poor in assault. My main charchter is VS on Werner.

TR: What can I say about the TR...
Slow, relativley imobile, but pack a huge punch. Very good static defenders due to their lockdown ability, and area effect maxs. I play TR on emerald.
