Alright folks. I know there are a few pretty accomplished reaver pilots around here. So with that said, I have a question or two.
After a couple days of piloting, driving, running and alot of dying, I've come to the conclusion that I stink on ice, specifically in a ground attack mission using a reaver. I'm asking those of you who've been racking up some kills using the reaver about your strategies for air-to-ground assaults what strategies you've been using against well defended (or even lightly defended) bases. I've tried coming in low and fast, but that makes targeting difficult and usually ends with my name on the board after a MAX emblem or worse, my handsome face scarred forever into the side of a hill. I've tried standoff fire (hover and unload). Bad idea..it makes you a sitting duck for anyone with a pea-shooter. I've even tried extreme altitude, nearly vertical dives onto the target...nearly impossible to target anything but vehicles or entire buildings....literally a waste of ammo and one hell of a good way to rack up grief points. So, I want to know what you folks are doing to make these slow ass reavers so formidable. Sure they've got the most firepower of any of the aircraft, but their egg-shell armor and slow overall speed I think tend to make them (to me) overrated. (yeah I know the balancing is still going on, but I highly doubt it'll change that much) Missles or that all but useless cannon? Coming in slow and afterburner out? Full afterburner passes and spray and pray fire? or are you mostly targeting convoys and more 'out in the open' targets? All advice is weclomed. All criticism is also welcomed but be nice or save it for your memoirs. X

I like to find a group of people, or just one, whatever, and get pretty close, then use some machine gun fire and get his attention. then once he stops moving to turn around i strafe and shoot my missiles. strafing is the only way i can control my shots and still be hard to hit

I've seen Miirs videos. Am I impressed? (Oh hell yes!)
Ask that guy! I'm sure he can drop a number of strategies on us. (I could make some educated guesses... but since I'm not in beta, it's probably better that I keep my mouth shut. Gotta play the game to have a clue, methinks.) |
