Well there are plenty of reviews out there as I'm sure we all know. but I haven't seen anyone post on the new 9600 PRO yet so i thought I would.
In short: it sucks and falls behind. stick with a 9500 PRO if you want performance with value, heck look how it stacks up to some of the Nvidias http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/...n_9600-07.html |

Uh, no actually. The GeForce FX 5200 is weaker than GeForce 4 Ti cards. It technically has DirectX9 hardware support, but...
http://firingsquad.gamers.com/hardwa...ra/default.asp I've seen no benchies for the 5600 series, so they might be worth something. And of course the 5800 series is a cruel joke. |

I have to agree, the 5200 FX Ultra 128 DDR is a POS. Its slightly cheaper than a ti4200, and more than slightly worse performance wise. The Radeon 9000 Pro's beat this card hands down.
The problem with saying its DX9 is that there are no DX9 games, it will be a while before there are and do you think the DX9 games are gonna be even less graphic intensive than DX8 games that this card can't really handle already? No they are gonna be even more killer and intensive and this card will choke b/c it just does not have the horsepower. As for the 9600 Pro, yea I was pretty disappointed about it and consider the 9500 Pro much better. But the 9500 Pro was considered a mistake, basically to much power in its class, which I think is stupid. The one thing going for the 9600 is the .13 chip which will OC like a mad dog. I hear after some insane oc'ing this card can actually surpass the 9500 Pro. For under $100, try and find the best deal you can on a 4200/128/8x. If you can't, then radeon 9000 Pro/128, then maybe 5200 bah. I'd save up another $100 and get a 9700 NP over the rest though. |

if you got the money, go for a 9800 Pro.
those things are just awsome, they beat out the FX 5800 Ultra both in performance and price current listed price on newegg is 425 for the 9800 Pro and 500 for the 5800 Ultra. i'm getting the 9800 Pro this summer, after the price drops to about 400 it's not just a 9700 Pro with bumped clock speeds, it's got completely new and revamped technology in it, pulling it ahead of its predecessor, the 9700 Pro by great leaps and moves ahead of the 5800 Ultra by a good margin |
