Ground vs. Air Transport

Well last night, I attempted to put together my first squad. On citrine I believe. Frankly it took a good amount of time to get setup but once it was it worked pretty well. The squad had no galaxy, it worked fine since we stayed on esamir, only one jump from the vanu sanc. I think it was awesome compared to a galaxy drop. I think the squad had 2 harassers, me in the ams, a magrider toward the end because we lost a harasser driver, and the rest in maxes with maybe a hacker thrown in. It was great, oh yeah, also at the end we had 2 reaver pilots for air support. I know that is more than 10, but people came and went ya know? Anyway my point in all this jibberish, is that ground transport rocks. More people need to be drivers! They will always have a spot in one of my squads. The only issue is getting across multiple conitents could be a drag. I guess we could always hitch a ride with a few galaxies. The big guns are nice, and the ability to bring along as many maxes as you want? Well, I think that one is self-explanatory.

I'd imagine less visable and smaller targets than Galaxies, as well.

Sounds like a good plan. I will, personally, never cert to fly galaxies. It seems like they are big bullet magnets. They are the biggest thing in the game for petes sake!

Ground convoys are fun. The enemy has less of a chance of spotting you through the trees and such. Unless, of course, they have a good amount of air support.

Air transports are better for troops who need to hot drop into a base quickly.

They're both fun though.

Still, I'd choose my reaver over a harasser any day.

When PS goes retail... I know for a fact that I want to be a Galaxy pilot. I can only imagine making a drop into a hot zone with my Galaxy full of fresh droops and support. Its gonna be awesome!

The main use i'll have for galaxys is transporting my whole squad in 1. Get about 3 galaxys and you can transport a small outfit! Otherwise, I'd use ground support. It's jus so much cooler

A convoy with a couple tanks, a sunderer, a few Max's, and some infantry with some AA weapons thrown in.... is not a soft target.

Sounds more like a juggernaut.

When the game goes gold, I plan to form a squad of a couple tanks with a friend of mine and help out convoys of ground transports. We may also escort ANTs to their target destinations.

Should be a lot of fun being the iron shield that protects the grunts so that they can make it inside of a base. Ground transport all the way!!!

I think the Sunderer is overlooked by alot of people. It can take alot of punishment and can carry a full squad (2 MAXs).

A friend and i both had infiltration suits, so just for kicks we hacked an enemy vehicle terminal. We spawned a Sunderer, moved it to a good position and manned the turrets until a) we killed the MAXs or b) the Sunderer was almost dead.

We ended up spawning 3 Sunderers and killing 5 MAXs. One of the MAXs even jumped onto the Sunderers roof and we started blasting each other at point-blank. I swear i seen him clamp down, too.
