Continent size!!!

last night i watched on for half an hour as my friend Fire_Monkey played his beta. Even though he spent most of his time trying get from the warp gate to any nearby base (he didnt have a vehicle cert and was trying to get a squad member to come pick him up. in the end he comitted suicide so he would respawn at the base) it was still amazing at the size of the continent. to get from one base to another on foot took him almost 15 minutes.

I just want to emphasize how big the continents are. also i like an estimate on how big the continents would be in miles (if this is somewere on the site please direct me to it)

I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the continents. What I read before the game made it seem as if they were relatively small, which isn't the case. IMO not having a vehicle cert is a definite no-no unless you are using MAX armor. On my Wraith, I can get to one side of a continent to the other in about 20-30 mins, depending on the amount of resistance I need and how many people are in my squad. I can't really give you a number as far as mileage goes, my best guess would be that it's equivalent to about 40 or 50 miles(although, I rarely travel all of the way across a continent, so don't quote me).

After I first started my infiltrator, I figured I would get a wraith cert, somewhere down the line after I had gotten all my other important stuff. I went out once, trying to get from place to place on foot, never again, even using the fastest moving armor (infiltrator) it still takes forever! And thats if you don't have to stop for fighting! I changed my mind and got a wraith right after getting my hacking cert (I mean, come on, hacking is a nescesity for infiltrators )

....how does 8km x 8km equal 30-40 miles? I can run across the continent in agile or reinforced in 20 minutes. The continents are actually small enough to run between bases, just realise its alot faster in anything, even an ant. If you like running try everqyest. 1 hr to find group, 1 hr to get the group somewhere, 1 hr to find unoccupied area, 30 seconds of battle, 20 seconds to respawn, 30 seconds to log off, and one minute to uninstall the game and cancle subsciption.
