Remove Spitfires

Other than logging off, having an enemy (or friend) kill it, or you yourself kill it (and suffer grief), is there any way to get rid of your own spitfire? I hate laying them out only to find them unused, then have to do one of the above methods to help defend the next base which harms me or slows down my squad majorly (after all, spitfires are a pretty useful thing in base defense).
