sphere of influence during a hack

lazy me didnt want to look for a similar post so im gonna ask on a new one....

ok, so you cannot land a droppod in a sphere of influence from an enemy basebut you can land inside your own base, but what if your base is currently being hacked. Neither side can use the facility but what happens to the sphere of influence during the 15 min hold period...does it remain the defenders? does it change to the attackers imediatly? does it become neutral where neither team can drop there? or can everyone drop there? I suppose neither team would make the most sence.

Very good question!
If you hack the other team's base than maybe you can launch a drop pod assault to overun the base!

maybe I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that a sphere of influence belonged to the base, not the controller. I didn't think you can land a drophip inside any sphere of influence no matter who control the base. If it was specifically stated somewhere that you can select a base under your control, I missed it. Seems to me no SOI selectable simply solves the whole issue.

By Dropship, you mean Drop Pod, right?

[Edit: Which Brings me to another question. Why do we call the Galaxy a Dropship at all, since it generally launches and lands inside the atmosphere?]

I never heard dropship being defined as requiring to pass through atmosphere...

I dunno.

I first heard of the term in relation to Aliens, and then later in Battletech and Renegade Legion. All those guys are ships made for in-system travel and the trip to a planet after the Jump Ship (in BT, I don't know if the ship in Aliens was a Jump Ship) comes out of FTL/Lightspeed.

Does anyone call transport planes dropships IRL?

Ok I stand corrected - then we're back to "good question" - I would like to know the answer to this myself.

Well, what actually happens is every 5 seconds it'll change to another Empire's - even if they're not fighting for that particular base. Then a few pink elephants will spawn and attack anything within sight.

My guess is during that 15 minutes, the sphere will be there but it will be neutral and NO ONE can land there. It just doesn't really make any sense if they could.

i bet the sphere drops and allows no one in it, just so no large groups of reinforcements come out of no where to change the tide of battle for either side

Actually it would make complete sense if it could. If the base is basically rendered useless you would think that the sphere of influence would be to, meaning anything or anyone could land there.
