I have no idea if or how much this has been discussed, and I do not care. These are my thoughts...
While the intentions were good, I find it lame that AP ammo is crappy against flesh. We have flesh ammo and AP ammo. In reality, an AP round still does ALOT of damage to fleshy targets. I have a simple solution... Have standard ammo that is the same size ammo box. 4 grids. Standard ammo would be poor against hard targets (MAXs, vehicles) --and-- Have AP ammo that is larger. 6 grids. Good against both. The flesh ammo would still have it's place for those who want to carry ALOT of anti-infantry ammunition, and those wishing to have AP would have 33% less ammo. This would feel even more cumbersome for anyone who carries other types of equipment as well. But this flesh ammo and AP ammo is ridiculous. I will post this as a pole.

Unfortunately, how do you fit two size caliber ammo in a single size calibar chamber?
I'm assuming they are different sizes since they take up a different grid sizes. I totally agree with you on the point that regardless of ap and non-ap, it's devastating to fleshy target. I would rather see the end of non-ap rounds all together. |

Unforetunately your response brings this to mind 1st. NO DUH, IT'S A GAME. And balance is the most important factor. But the current 2 ammo types just doesn't sell in my book. While fiction, it is best to stick to reality, even if it's fictional reality (futuristic, hovercraft, etc.) it still should make sense. But thank you for your useless reply anyways.

AP rounds will go straight through flesh, without doing any extra damage. (yes, I know that being shot is huge damage, but bear with me) They are designed to penetrate armor, so when they come into contact with flesh, they just punch straight through it and out the back.
Standard rounds, on the other hand, don't just punch through. I'm going to go with the idea that they are using hollowpoint rounds as standard, just for the sake of argument. When the hollowpoint hits flesh, it will expand, thus ripping a larger hole in you than an AP round will. Also, because standard rounds are not designed to pierce armor, they don't leave the body as often, instead bouncing around, ripping your insides apart. I'm not sure what type of bullet they are claiming is their standard round, but that's basically how I look at the situation. AP rounds can pierce armor, but just punch straight through flesh. Standard rounds don't punch through armor, but they either expand upon contact or bounce around inside the body, which does more damage. |

That's all true, I know.
But when you're hit with 20 AP rounds, even if they go straight through, the extra damage done by non-ap doesn't mater one bit. Now, if say I can kill a flesh target with two non-ap rounds (due to the expansion of the bullet and the ricochet inside the body by fragemtation), I'll be happy. But sadly, that ain't the case. |

i like the idea but you know what :duh:
the ap ammo thing was explained. it is like a future paint ball filled with armor eating liquid that does nothing to flesh. it devours metal and armor at a rate never seen before but unfortunately does nothing but leave a welt on the skin. i voted for the change since it would be more REALISTC. (theres that word again) can someone PLZ tell me what this emote is supposed to meaN? |

I won't vote, but I'll give my opinion. Here it is, the different types of ammo are there for balancing reasons, would YOU really want a gun that could tear through both humans and armor at the same time? It sound good if your BEHIND the gun, but if your on the wrong in a MAX, for example, and run into a Mini-chaingunner with these new bullets...your gonna get your nuts ripped off faster than you can blink. I don't think they should null ammo types, perhaps adjust damage, but not deleting.
