Bestbuy systems

Hey all I'm new I need to buy a budget PC from Bestbuy but I don't know what brand to go with I'm thinking about a Hewlett Packard trying to get a system less then 2000$ or even 1500$ if possible or perhaps Bestbuys VPR Matrix's are a good choice? I'm going for a P42.53gigahertz with 512DDR at least a 100GB harddrive a Radeon9800PRO soundblaster audigy2 19"NEC or Viewsonic moniter Creative Inspire5200 5.1 speaker setup and a microsoft intelli3.0 I forgot name although I currently have one:/ I'm also hoping for a good rebate to factor in. are there rebates for computer creation station systems?:/ sorry about the noobiness of this post as I'm usually fragging in some game I don't spend much time on forums.

if u want a gaming machine try alienware (www.alienware.com) or if you can get some1 to build u one, it would be alot cheaper... anyway, if you want to stick with the bestbuy comp, that computer would be enough... (the 9800 pro and all ), but i've heard from beta testers 512 ram doesnt cut it... you should get 768 +. But who knows, it was just beta

A gig of RAM makes the game play like butter.

I was wondering...would I get rebates for systems at the computer creation station or is that just for the ones on the shelves?

Oh and I'll look into getting another 512DDR stick in that case.

My guess is your using like BB credit or some ISP deal to get it at BB? It works, just be careful. Their interests rates can be insane. BB also sells Alienware systems, but OMG their prices are insane. Getting directly from Alienware site much cheaper.

I also don't see any HP pre-built systems with 9800 Pro's, so are you buying components or what? If so, buy them all and put it together.

Forget HP - if you're headed to Best Buy, get a VPR Matrix machine. Most run, for a full system, from $1000-1500, and they're incredible. I use a FT4100 (slightly modified) and even with 512 MB of RAM the game is like liquid sex (only held back currently by my 56K connection at home - at college it's like touching God.) Alienware is good but VERY pricey (though these days if you have the money they may be worth it - I like that new case design of theirs, and not just for the looks. They do some very sensible things with that case.) For your budget, though, a VPR Matrix machine (which is BB's house brand, BTW) will do you justice. And the great thing is, it's essentially a custom-build machine, parts-wise. Nothing is soldered in, and they use only brand-name parts for the guts of the machine. It's definitely worth the price, IMHO.

(The only problem currently is that the things sell so well that they can be rather scarce. Badger the BB people to put a machine on order if you need to - it's likely they might not have any lower-end VPRs in stock, because they disappear from stores QUICK. Heck, last Christmas my local BB had to sell the display models just to meet demand, it got so bad. They haven't had many on display since. )

EDIT: Doh, fixed URL. "VRP" indeed.
