Now, for some reason I was thinking that I could just imput a new cd key into the beta on my comp, and dl some files to make it the retail edition- is that right?

See a few things made me wonder...
"That is patching from the installation CD, not from Beta. If you have a beta installation the only thing you are likely to download is the exe itself, about 2MB compressed." twist Unfortunately the only way currently to obtain a subscription key is to purchase the box. You won't have to install though =). It's a good point and one I will bring up for future beta tests. -Twist You know, I think I'm right. Yep, I am. That's really cool.

Doesn't really matter what we think. Wanting it to be true won't make it so. I'm hoping that my Beta account can just roll right into an active account. In any case I'll be buying the box if for no other reason I don't feel like keeping a 1.5 GB file around in case I need to re-install only to have to patch it from Beta back to current date.
