yea, so they can make new weapons and new vehicles, but what could they do to expand the armor choices? Post your ideas here for shits and giggles. Heres one me and xenon dreamed up in psu chat.
The backpack armor: basically standard armor (100pts.) with 1 rifle and 2 pistol slots and an inventory double the size of reinforced. With the backpack you would be slow and couldn't ride in heavy vehicles but what if you could shed the backpack. This would leave you with standard armor but you could get into all vehicles. And then what if the backpack you droped is just like one from a corpse? It stays so that people can get stuff out of it until you die or change armors. This would be great for the engineer who wants to have a regular weapons loadout and still carry a bunch of deployables, then he could drop the backpack and run around fighting and keep going back to it for more deployables. Basically its a trunk you can leave indoors that cant be blown up. You could fill it with sniper rounds, decimators, or even quick medkits. I guess it would be balanced because the guy would have realy weak armor to fight, but can be more flexible and helpful to the team. Reaver and misquito pilots would love it too. Get the backpack loaded with ammo, drop it off somwhere, and hop in the reaver for an even faster way to rearm yourself anywhere you want. Hopefully you could lock it somehow like the trunk in a MAX. |

What I'd like to see is an armor type somewhere between the Reinforced and the Max. You must have Reinforced as a prerequisite and it costs 2 points:
200 Armor points Larger inventory space (say 132) 3 rifle slots 2 pistol slots Same travel mode as Maxes (weapons can't be used) The reason that this is my dream "can", is that I'm both an engineer and a medic. There's never enough space or slots for all the equipment I need to bring along. ... It's probably over the top, but - hey - I can dream, right? (BTW: Thank God PSU is up again. I'm over here in europe and I won't be playing for a few days.) |

Nah...
It will be far from a MAX. They have like 650 armor points and massive weapons. (Also 156 squares of inventory space). We'd still be packing our pea shooters. Maybe it's a bit overpowered, but it do cost You 5 points, and those points oughta get You something good, right? ... Anyway - it's my dream outfit. I know it won't happen and - yes - I am bitter about it! |

yea i would have to agree too...One thing that keeps max's balanced is they only have one type of weapon, and they cant hack, repair and what not. It would have to be reaaaly expensive, and you couldnt get in any vehicles. But if it was so expensive you wouldnt be able get certs for anything else to put in those rifle slots :P But who knows...might happen

Yep, backpacks would be cool. I would suggest that the packs be quickly pickable by anybody with a REK and that the dropped packs (enemy as well as friendly) show up on radar if you are within ~ 15 feet of them. People would be less inclined to leave a bunch of packs lying around if they could easily fall into enemy hands.

Umm... What about if You can only get it in towers and bases (like MAX armors)? Lets add that it must go into the MAX spaces on transports too. Does it sound any better now? Remember - it's five frickin points to get it, and then You still have no guns, no hacker, medic or engineer certs. Nada! For 4 points You can get a Reaver - a flying a death machine that comes fully armored and with two weapon systems (just for comparison). ... I'm not sure why I'm arguing, since it's probably a lost cause. But as I said - I won't be playing PS again until at least this weekend and I'm getting the shakes here. Gotta keep occupied. |

The backpack idea rules...as for the 3-rifle slot armor: can't say I really like the idea. Way too overpowered - the whole concept of an FPS is balance. I'm an engy, too - but sacrifices must be made at some point. And is that even realistic? What kind of pseudo-soldier could carry THREE heavy rifles/launchers, two pistols, wear HEAVY armor, and have a massive inventory to boot? Let's be realistic...

Advanced Infiltration Suit. Two pistol slots and slightly larger inventory space. Has slow motion weapon switch so you don't lose cloak when switching. Costs 3 certs instead of only 2.
Combat Support Armor. Lots of inventory space but limited armor (75 ?) and only one rifle slot. Still unable to drive closed compartment vehicles, but running speed is a lot faster than in reinforced armor. Costs 3 certs. Wouldn't really need this if they added your backpack suggestion. |

Recon Armor- Low armor and maybe the inventory space of standard or agile.. You would run faster and people can't see you on radar, and crosshairs don't turn red when they are on you. Basically, it makes the enemy locate you visually, instead via radar or their crosshair turning red. I would use it for sniping.

hehe....i guess it would be ok with all of those nerfs. Now if you realy want to dream...dream about a dual rifle wielding implant so you can run around with dual mini-chainguns in this armor and still have a slot for your decimator. I think a good nerf for that mega armor would be no pistol slots, so they wouldnt be able to hack/repair anyway.
