New wave of kiddies shooting the gen

The base has been zerged by your empire, the cc is crawling with infs, maxes and grunts..no enemies around. You breath a sigh of relief and camp the base for your XP hit. Then the message appears "This facilities generator is under attack!". Wtf, over!

Kiddies shooting gens...the new wave of n00bs after release. I now find myself being the body guard of the gen room after hacks giving warnings and blasting offenders with my cycler.

One guy jumped into the gen room and fired a few shots at my precious gen 3 mins before the hack was complete. I shot at him once with my cycler and was about to tell him off when 3 others just unloaded into him and sent the silly fucker back to the spawn chamber

You have to remember, lots of people playing the game now didn't play the beta. They still don't realize that what they are doing is wrong.

Hell people in Beta didn't get the concept that it was wrong... what chance them!

Nah, just explain gently that destroying terms, and gens in a hacked base is Hurting the team. This can normaly be explained in one magazine or less!

Not that I would shoot a gen if we had a hack, but if I shot a gen, and was tk, I'll keep doing it just to get tk and piss off the poeple who tkd me.

Honestly, just tell them. TKing them really just pisses them off.

I know it would me.

hehe, this happened even in beta. But it happens quite a bit more now.

Hopefully after a few weeks it will slow down again

How about grief points for shooting hacked terms and gens before your team's cap is complete? I sure that would work.

If the hack fails and you get overrun you can shoot the gen all you like if that's your tactical decision.

At least guarding the gen gives you something to do while waiting on the cap..

Gen-blasting is only good when you need to starve a base on a locked continent.
Otherwise, TK the Foo.

A newb would not know this. He's thinking he's helping, then he gets TK'd and not know why.

If that was me, I'd keep trying to shoot out the gen until gen is dead, hack success, or the TKrs got locked down (the last bit being the most funniest).

Tactical Considerations

I disagree that you should never attack the gens, there is a time and a place for it. Usualy it's only in a major long fight over a facility and you just cannot breach into the CC or far enough into the interior to get a MAX and a couple guys with Jackhammers/Cyclers in front of the spawn tubes. On those rare occasions blowing the gens serves two purposes, the obvious one depriving the enemy of in base respawn (although if their smart they already have a contingency AMS up usualy in the courtyard if they can swing it. It also helps to draw defenders in a hurry. For a few laughs have one guy pounding the gens with a thumper with plasma gernades (seems to be fastest way i've found to crack a gen other then a bunch of decimator rockets) and have a max guard the door. Wait for the guys in agile suits to come tearing up the stairs. But yes after base hack I pity da fool that touches my gens.

I always give them one warning shot, a verbal warning. I might give a lecture and if they're a persistant little shit they get wasted. If others blast them to hell before I give my little lecture on the importance of gens and that they're hurting the team..oh well..

There is nothing more annoying than capping a base with no generator. Especially when the engineer on your team needs an equip terminal to get his/her Nano-Dispenser.

Could a mod plz make this topic permanently topped?

Your engineer should know enough to ALWAYS keep a spare repair gun in his locker!
