Well, I doubt its a hacker if your key really was used...

If anything, someone went to the store, bought the copy you now have, took the key from it, and returned it. Thats the only thing I could imagine what happened.

I hope you get things straightened out soon. At the moment it is very easy to pick up programs that generate random CD keys. Also, anyone who had beta can easily buy the game, copy down the CD key without even taking the wrapping off the CDs and then return the game. I actually thought about doing it for a second myself, but my conscience got the better of me.

They can easily track the key to the account. It's all stored.

If it is indeed in use, the account may be banned.

Banning?
Hopefully the consequences will be much more severe than banning.

Stealing a CD key is common theft. Using it to illegally gain access to Sony's servers is unlawful entry.

It should be reported to the police so they can deal with the culprit.

Hope the little dweeb did it so many times that he gets jail time, and a new daddy named Bubba...
