I really wish theyd change the way the radar works, or at least allow an option to configure it a different way.
At the moment its a relatively difficult thing to work out your tactical situation at a glance. In order to get a vector to one of your enemies, you first need to work out which way youre facing by checking the orientation of the white arrow in the center. Only then can you calculate the direction you need to turn to face the enemy.
If the option was present to configure the radar such that it rotated around you (i.e. the white arrow always pointed up), it would be much easier to work out your situation at a glance.
Does anyone else feel the same way, or is it just me?
Its not like it would be a major challenge for the devs to do this either. A simple texture rotate and a circular clip (to avoid gaps appearing as the texture heads toward the diamond position) is all thats called for, and it would save an (admittedly smaller) rotate anyway by not needing to rotate the white arrow. You would loose the corner areas (the bits outside the compass ring) by doing it this way, but enemies are almost always out of range at those distances anyway. Alternately they could render slightly more of the map to avoid the diamonding and leave the display the same, however this would be a larger change.
