Well NC has many shotguns,which are short range weapons.We all know that modern wars are dominated by range(who cares about my uber shotgun when that tr assault rifle has a 2times longer range...),so im kinda worried about balance here...any ideas?

Shotguns don't have the range of a rifle, that's true...but they aren't necessarily useless at medium range. That depends almost entirely on the gauge of the barrel and the spread pattern of the shot. Forget the fact that shotguns can actually use slugs, if desired.
So don't give up on the trusty old shotgun just because of the spread on the sawed-off duster-coat version. It's a pretty useful weapon when it's not hacked in half.
