Ok, getting the game tonight and looking forward to getting involved. Going to join the Vanu Sovereignty and was wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers. Please no, join the other empires, I like the look of the Vanu Sovereignty.
Also, I hear stay away from the Emerald Server, any of the other servers have Vanu Sovereignty outfits that I can look up tonight? Thanks!

Well, like, depends what you want pointers on
Play with your kit in the VR training areas, and now that first time exp is re-enabled, make sure u check out EVERY weap/vehicle. When you've got a feel for how everything works, go to the HART shuttle bay in the middle of ur sanctuary, and spend ur cert points wherever you like. Look for a squad, so you've got more opertunity to get exp, and go with them. They'll also probably be able to help you out. If you can't find a squad or don't want to join one, hop thru a warp gate (as marked on ur map [press m]) and find some hotspots to fight in

Seriously though, Read the manual, Go through the Offline training and then do VR training to get to Battle Rank 3. This game has a lot to take in at first so read the basics and the offline training should answer a lot of questions for you to help you get started. |

Johari server is well balanced and not too crowded. Rarely do i see exp bonuses or negitives there (that means the server population balanced).
My general suggestions: 1. Dont worry about dieing alot at first. Everyone does. 2. Try a bunch of different certs to find out what you find fun... you will be suprised what you like. 3. Get in a squad as soon as you can... let them know you are new (people are a bit more forgiving when they know that). 4. Don't be afraid to ask questions (but read the manual first so you don't ask the obvious questions). This game may take a bit to learn at the first, but it's simple after you get the basics down. My suggestions for Vanu (I am vanu): 1. dont bother with the beamer.... use an amp. It is the worst handgun of the 3 empires and the amp is much more useful (i think the only empire hangun worth a damn is the NC scattergun). 2. Don't assume that a magrider wont run you over because it they are in your empire... most magrider drivers kill as many teammates as foes. 3. You have to try a Vanu max even if you don't want to go that route... they are soo much fun to fly on top of stuff with. If you play vanu and don't at least mess with a max... you are missing out on some fun. Just some suggestions off the top of my head.

As others said go Max early (right away from br3). The anti-infantry Vanu max is quite good, easy to learn and a lot of fun. It doesn't stack up very well to ther other realm's Maxs, so don't worry so much if you die a lot.
The other option is to go with some sort of vehicle first. However, to learn the game you should really be infantry and be active in helping to attack and defend bases. Oh and probably the #1 newbie mistake is to destroy the generator of a base as your realm is trying to hack it. If you are attacking a base and trying to hack it, leave the generator alone. |
