Driver/Pilot Experience?

I've looked for this, so if I missed it, please redirect me.

How is experience handled for drivers and pilots?

My first idea was for pilots to be given token xp when passengers drop near enemy positions. But then perhaps you want to drop away from the fight and use the element of surprise...

I'll hold all my typing to see if this has been covered before.

Its been covered, but not extensivly.

So I dont have a good answer for you hehe - if they are in a squad they gain shared squad BEP's. Other than that I cannot be certain.

Here are my thoughts on it:

Say a galaxy pilot has a full load on board, and has to navigate AA fire, mountains and other terrain, other air vehicles, etc... then he definately deserves something. But you can't count unloading passengers, because people would easily abuse it. You can't count dropping in a hotzone, because who wants to do an automated (slow) landing in a hotzone? Perhaps just give him split xp with the squad even if he sits in the pilot seat while they are out there dying in the fields. But that seems a little raw if the flight was nice and trouble-free and he's not contributing on the battlefield.

OTOH, perhaps I'm getting to interested in this, and we should just share xp with all squad members as a rule of thumb and the grunts will have to deal with the leeching flybois.

Assuming the pilots got you there in one piece they should get some BEP. Hell you get BEP for doing nothing might as well get some for actually contributing. I want to see something like "You've gained 3000 BEP for taking out enemy squad with your galaxy's bumper" Then pilots can get involved in the fighting

Yeah, but how do you stop people from hopping in, jumping over the hill, and unloading just to get some pointage?

You can't stop it. If people are going to abuse it there is really nothing people can do about it. You can't stop everything in the game and sooner or later someone is going to find something to exploit. You just have to trust that people will spend their time actually trying to play the game instead of being retards and racking up BEP by doing something lame like that.

That's my problem, I don't trust people.

I for one would rather have to work harder to get my beps than leave a hole open that allows people to exploit. Pilots will always be required, whether they get xp from it or not.

Unless the devs find a stunning way to combat such an exploit, I guess shared squad beps will have to do.

They'll fix it if becomes a big problem. One thing I've learned from game devs is that they will only fix something if it gets whined and bitched about for awhile.

Actually, I'm pretty optimistic about PS myself. I've been involved with several different unreleased games and this has to be the most involved and open, available set of devs I've gotten to see so far. More power to them.
