How to get updated patches?

I've been reading the list of updates on the login screen. Inside the description, it instructs you to "just patch and login."

I'm still experiencing problems that these patches should be fixing. Is the patch installed automatically when my files are analyzed or am I to obtain the patch manually?

The biggest headache I've encountered is getting locked up when warping and getting kicked off world at random. The latter hasn't happened as much, but it was very annoying to have to hook up with my squad after returning to the game.

The launcher should download the files you need if there's a patch out. You don't have to go to any website and download or install anything.

The patches don't always work for everybody by the way... The devs can't predict how things will work on the thousands of different system configurations that people have.

You mean to tell me that I didn't buy a customized package of software that is guaranteed to be fully functional 100% of the time without incident or update!

I figured that the launch screen was running all necessary updates, but the text log was a bit confusing in it's wording. It rendered doubt when I was still experiencing problems.
