Lasher-- how does it really work?

Ok I've been playing with the Lasher some lately and wanted to try and elicit other people's ideas on how it works or if they have found better ways to use it.

Good points-- this thing is fairly effective against max and vehicles and turrets. I have blown up a sunder and gun turret and several max with it. Much better than the other hvy assault weapons at doing this and you do not have to switch armor.

the Lashing-- most people seem to think this occurs when it explodes. I think it mostly happens as the ball passes near the target. This is primarily from VR playing around as I noticed some infantry dying from the balls passing near them as I fired at more distant targets.

This begs the questions-- where do you aim with it in medium range combat? Do you try to get the balls to hit at the enemies feet? Do you fire at their body hoping for a direct hit but at least getting some Lash as the balls pass by? Anyone done more extensive testing?

Happy lashin!

The spheres lashes at all enemies while in transit then it blows up on impact.

As for where to aim, depends on the range, speed and target... its just a feeling thing

Lasher is abysmal at anything longer than short range (as with all HA weapons).

The Lasher is great for supression. I call it the "VS doorstop". With the 20rnd clip, if you need to stop an advancing force indoors, just lash the hallway or door from around the corner.

Whether or not you get any kills is another matter. The orbs not only do damage, but spams the screen.

You can't do the same with the CG or JH. No one can really see the projectiles (CG tracers maybe, but doesn;t have the same effect as the orbs).

It also reduces the FPS for some to 4-6fps. That right there makes it a deadly weapon to some

IMHO, I don't like any of the HAs, especially the Lasher. But that's just me.

JH is best for 1v1, CG can use some help as a better CQ wepon, the Lasher just needs help. 1v1 with a lasher, you're better off just pulling out a Sweeper Shotgun.

I despise it. You need to be at Jackhammer range to have the chance to hit anything at all, and THAT means that you're in range of the instant-hit HAs like the Chaingun and the Jackhammer. Since they hit you instantly and they can still dodge your shots... Not good.

The lashing seems... off. It's range seems either VERY VERY small, or the damage equivilent is scratches against the armor with a plastic spork. IMHO, it should cause splash damage when it hits something (i.e. person or wall) to help make up for it's horrible disadvantages...

I'd make a whole bunch of changes to this weapon. But you guys don't want to hear it most likely, so I'll shove it where it belongs.
