Sneak into an enemy AMS bubble, place mines, jack it, drive it off, deconstruct it. The infiltrator was one of the most balanced and versatile playstyles. There is no shortage of things to do with it, and it was most certainly not gimped. The infiltrator is meant to sabotage, it isn't meant to be used as a killwhore suit. But hey, people use it as that too, so there's another one. Any questions?
You could only jack vehicles that don't move for long periods of time. It was more efficient to just boomer them. (i loved being able to hack them, but it only works on empty vehicles/bads who don't keep moving)

Unless underpopulated base, hacked base turrets lasted all of 20 seconds after firing.
Anyone with a proper gun and armor would have just as easily blown up a hacked spitfire (ally or enemy) with ease.

The 5-10 minutes it took for you to make that diversion, usually only costs a few enemies 30-60 seconds of "get there, fix/kill problem, leave".

If you weren't boomering something, you weren't doing anything that really helped the team, besides wasting peoples time. Base hacks did very little and are counter hacked very fast.

I hated needing ACE's just to play infiltrator. My question was, what can you do "without" ACE's. But half of what you said was with. All you listed was jack unoccupied vehicles/ams's and cat/mouse to distract/waste enemies time. Everything else had next to no impact on the fight, and you were better off doing something else more productive.

You weren't an infiltrator, you where an invisible demo man playing grand theft auto.

Well, no... I didn't say just jacking unoccupied vehicles, jacking occupied ones proves to be very helpful. Many times I've jacked vehicles (tanks, BFRs, buggies etc) and used them against the enemy. Since they're camping the doors most of the time too it helps your team push out.

But, everything I've listed is the ROLE of the infiltrator. ACEs are a must for one because it is their ROLE. They are meant to be a "invisible demo man playing grand theft auto." They aren't meant to be someone who runs around with an AMP and four boxes of ammo.

Tell me though, what do you think an infiltrator should be able to do? Because to be honest, I find infantry gameplay much more simple. Unholster gun, shoot people.

I want to be able to "stow away" on or in an enemy vehicle, given it has room. Such as a galaxy or prowler, and I want the ability to sabotage it once it flight or on the move in general.

I want the ability to instakill an enemy if it's from behind with the right mechanics (eg; Hold the melee button down until it turns green or whatever.)

I want to be able to climb walls with mission impossible suction cup hand thingies.

I want the ability to fast repell down walls as opposed to jumping (these new walls are fucking TALL.)
And I want an orbital strike chaingun. Oh, that sounds a bit OP though..

Fast repelling sounds fair though.

Alright.. I could have worded it differently...

Climbing in a Galaxy and sabotaging it sounds so OP though. As in explode in midair? No thanks, I'll just wait for my Scythe timer...

I think this was the point of the argument. You would rather play infantry 'cuz stealth was gimped he said.

I hated ACE's, but loved the sneaky hacky stuff. But being just sneaky hacky wile trying to kill 1 person, once in a blue moon cause they where in the way of your hacky was not something you can do unless you get the jump on them, and their alone/no-ones watching. Your not trying for the kill spam, your an infiltrator. But then comes the ACE's and all you have to do is run up and plant a pancake at their feet to start the sonic enema. Zero effort required.

Being a good infiltrator revolved around ACEs, because everything else it did was gimped.

That play-style ruined it for me.

Where is the payout for the 10 minutes you spent sneaking into just the right spot to hack something?
It's the 3 seconds it takes for someone to flip on DL/spray bullets around the area and kill you after they find out what you did/tried to do. Even if you succeeded, it was lack luster at best for a benefit.

Infiltration, cover ops, in-direct effects on the coarse of battle from behind the scenes. You could do those things, its just that they were woefully ineffective. Not to mention that invisibility was to easily circumvented for how weak they where in combat.
